about

PRODUCED BY GREG CHICHE

GENERAL GUFF:

...the Sun Electric induce the warmth of the sun, in their hazy and we gotta say - utterly classic - debut EP. The Sun Electric Band know their Crazy Horse-like anthems and keep their stuff just on the right side of lo-fi and make it interesting. ‘Their sounds come off like a laconic and harmonic end credits song to some surfer movie set in Leicester. Love it.

...jangly psychedelic guitar-fuelled delights...

Manchester’s Sun Electric Band channel the beatnik harmonies of Real Estate or The Mantles, but with a blues edge that tips its hat to Steely Dan and early Beatles, and sits them alongside contemporaries Spectrals.

When it comes to comparisons for up and coming bands, the usual mix is the likes of Deerhunter, Animal Collective and the rest of the pitchfork set. It’s rare that you’d be able to draw parallels between the cream of the crop and The Eagles, but then again, The Sun Electric Band aren’t your usual band of trendy chancers...

...a band over-flowing with classic pop eloquence...while new Manc bands are seemingly falling over themselves to re-invent the wheel and overwhelm us with otherworldly soundscapes, The Sun Electric Band’s genius is very much of this world.

It's wistful yet celebrates melancholy rather than wallowing in it.

...crafting some fine, fresh and slow-burning jangle-pop grooves.

Their influences include Neil Young and Crazy Horse, American power pop band Shoes and The Replacements...Their narrative of small town life and random train journeys gives their drowsy West Coast-inclined country-pop a North West slant. Elements of The Lemonheads, Husker Du and Deerhunter are evident here too.

Every time I listen to the vocals of “In The Clouds” I cannot stop thinking of The Band. It's a real gem.

This has got a bit of a Kinks vibe about it.

The Sun Electric Band Manchester, UK

"New Manchester psychedelic jangle pop band. Lotta nice reviews. On a classic rock tip but with some curliness that makes them just a little bit weirder."
